International Women's Day: 9 female-owned brands To Know

In the beauty industry, across all spectrum of products, from body care to cosmetics, there lingers an unmistakable shadow of the 'male gaze' as the ultimate measure of a woman's worth. We believe differently. At Yuty, a woman's health, happiness, self-respect, and ethics come first.

Entirely without contrived efforts, most founders of the conscious beauty products on Yuty have answered "What does beauty mean to you?" in the same way, with almost the same words. They say, "Beauty is feeling good." They explain, "Beauty is believing in the skin you're in, believing in yourself, inside and out."

We are extremely proud to be a nucleus where women and women-allied entrepreneurs can share their innovative beauty products while being represented in a space that shares their values. All of the body and skincare products on Yuty are aligned by similar qualities of compassion, curiosity, principle, respect for our planet, self-reflection and joy.

Observing International Women's Day on March 8, is a much-needed chance for deep introspection. We would do well to refresh ourselves on historical progress, examining how the concepts of 'feminism' and 'empowerment' have altered through the decades, and what impacts it had on the people that lived before us and are being born today. We can take the opportunity to challenge what's not right, not fair, and problematic in our country, our society, and even our families. We must question our social norms, gender disparities, and more broadly, be enlightened on how women's welfare connects to poverty, unemployment, access to education, male gender expectations, community health and much more.
